Mourningdreaming is a unisex streetwear brand founded by Reina Quinonez.
Filipino Mexican-American fashion designer and decolonial scholar from Brooklyn, New York; Reina (fka “Mango”) founded the brand at Parsons School of Design with their debut thesis collection “i’m alive and i love you”. The collection featured larger-than-life accessories, toy bullet holsters, and “ancestral” beads inscribed with messages of revolution.
In their design practice, Reina uses worldbuilding not only as a decolonization praxis but also as an act of resistance, prioritizing care for ourselves, our communities, our land, and our belongings. To gift, to bead, to braid, to adorn, to embrace, to play, are all actions we take to create new eutopias.
Mourningdreaming asks you to imagine, imagine, imagine.
